Overview:
This seminar looks at the real factors that drive employee engagement - a key factor in driving productivity. We will distinguish between short-term extrinsic approaches and long-term intrinsic ones that are often undervalued. We will also examine who is responsible for creating culture and helping employees recognize their own power and agency in creating the culture around them.
Why you should Attend:
The Gallup organization has tracked employee engagement for decades now and the data has remained pretty consistent over the last 20 years. Roughly 30% of employees say they are "engaged" and 70% not engaged. This translates to lost productivity and higher turnover. It's time to rethink how to best engage employees.
This session will give attendees a chance to explore their beliefs around notions like:
- Should I sue more "carrots" (extrinsic rewards) or intrinsic approaches with employees?
- How much of the culture is my (leader) responsibility vs. employees?
- How important is how I "show up" to work each day as a leader? What about for employees?
- How does clarifying my personal purpose or "why", help me stay resilient?
- How can I effectively set boundaries for myself and with others so I can fully "show up" each day?
Areas Covered in the Session:
- Extrinsic "carrots" vs. intrinsic motivators
- How management and employees BOTH create the culture
- Defining your "why" and how it helps resilience
